Physical Education with Heart, Hustle, and a Dash of Humor
As a Physical Education teacher, I believe that health and physical education represent more than games, mile runs, and food pyramids—it's a launching pad for lifelong wellness, joy, and growth. My teaching philosophy blends all-inclusive development with hands-on fun, all while encouraging students to move, think, laugh, and connect. I’m not just teaching students how to play games; I’m helping them build the confidence and skills to lead happy, healthy, active lives. I strive to be a positive influence, teaching students that kindness, respect, and being a good human is far more important than being a good athlete.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that PE should support the whole child. I aim to create experiences that promote physical skill, emotional resilience, and social connection. I want every student to leave class sweaty, smiling, and feeling a little more incredible than when they walked in.
I strive to build a student-centered, inclusive environment where everyone feels safe to try, fail, succeed, and celebrate each other’s wins. Activities are differentiated and designed to meet a variety of learning styles and ability levels—because not every student dreams of varsity tryouts, but every student deserves to feel strong and capable in their skin.
My classroom (a.k.a. the gym, the field, or the hallway when the gym’s booked) is a place where students are encouraged to explore a wide range of physical activities—not just traditional sports. From dance to yoga to creative movement challenges, I aim to make PE a space where movement is meaningful, accessible, and—yes—engaging! My lessons connect to real-life situations, promote lifelong habits, and help students understand that fitness isn’t just something you do—it's something you live.
Through ongoing assessment that values growth over perfection, I focus on celebrating individual progress. I constantly reflect on my teaching, adapting and improving to ensure each student is engaged and challenged.
In short: I teach PE because I believe in the power of movement to change lives—and if we can do that while tossing a ball or dancing to the newest TikTok trend, even better.
